Privacy Policy

This policy describes the information collected during a visit, the reasons it is used, and the limited circumstances in which it may be disclosed. By using Ogle County Criminal History, you accept these practices.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

A name or location entered in a search tool is transmitted directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its response. Ogle County Criminal History does not keep or log those search terms on its own systems.

Messages and Contact Submissions

An email or contact submission may be retained so a response can be provided. It remains within the organization unless disclosure is required by law.

Data We Gather Automatically

When a page loads, the servers automatically receive basic technical and usage details:

  • The IP address assigned to your device
  • Which browser you are using and its version
  • Your device type and operating system
  • The pages you visited and how long you stayed on each
  • The site that sent you here, if any
  • Timestamps for each page view

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small files placed on a device. They help measure traffic, popular pages, and where visits end. Analytics providers combine that activity into usage reports. A browser can reject cookies, although doing so may change how some features work.

What We Do With This Data

  • Keeping the site up, running, and loading quickly
  • Sending your search requests to the right partner service
  • Figuring out which pages people find useful and which need work
  • Tracking down and fixing technical issues
  • Showing ads that may line up with your interests

No Criminal-Record Data on File

Ogle County Criminal History does not maintain, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It provides general directions to records held by the Ogle County Sheriff, Ogle County Circuit Court, Illinois State Police Bureau of Identification, and Illinois State Police Sex Offender Registry. It is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor information is not compiled into consumer reports or third-party criminal files.

Third-Party Search Partners

Outside companies power the search boxes. Their privacy terms, retention rules, and disclosure practices govern data submitted to them. Those practices are beyond this site's control, so review the provider's policy before entering a query.

Links to Other Websites

Links may lead to Ogle County offices, Illinois agencies, court systems, legal resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor follows one, the destination's privacy policy controls. Review it before providing personal details.

Some advertising providers may use activity across websites to select ads. That processing occurs on their systems.

Who Might See Your Data

We do not sell personal data. Some information may end up with:

  • Search partners that handle queries you run on our site
  • Analytics services we use to track traffic and performance
  • Ad networks that place ads on our pages
  • Law enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order requires it

How We Protect Your Data

Reasonable standard safeguards are used for collected data. No internet system is completely secure, however, and this site cannot guarantee that a breach will never occur.

Users Under 18

This resource is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. A report that a minor supplied data will be reviewed so the information can be removed.

Your Data Rights

Applicable Illinois consumer-protection law, including the Illinois Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act, 815 ILCS 505, may provide additional rights. The Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140, governs public-body records rather than data held by this private site. Subject to applicable law, you may:

  • Ask for a copy of what we have on file about you
  • Have us fix information that is wrong
  • Request that we erase your data
  • Opt out of certain kinds of data processing

Updates to This Policy

This policy may be revised. Any replacement will appear here with an updated effective date, so visitors should review it periodically.
